KMC is a privately owned Canadian company that began operations in southern Saskatchewan and Alberta in 1949. The company started as a contract road builder and expanded to include railroads, dams and other major earthworks over the company’s 60 plus year history. As Western Canada developed, KMC completed projects throughout Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Yukon, and Northwest Territories. KMC Mining started working in the Alberta oilsands industry in 1973 and has achieved significant growth as this sector has developed over the last 30 plus years.
Our primary focus since 1973 has been the open pit mining industry, and in particular, the Canadian oilsands sector. Within that focus, we have been involved in a wide range of mining activities which include site preparation, tailings dyke and haul road construction, overburden removal, reclamation, crushing and hauling ore. Other mining industry involvement included zinc (Yukon); coal (Alberta and British Columbia), gold (British Columbia), uranium (Saskatchewan), and diamonds (Northwest Territories).
