Education and Professional Assistance

KMC recognizes that the skills and knowledge of our employees are critical to the success of the organization. We encourage personal development through education and professional development so that employees can maintain and improve their work related skills and capabilities.

Our basic criteria for providing education or professional assistance, is that the education be relevant to the employee’s position or industry.

Apprenticeship Program

In an effort to encourage our Auto/Heavy Duty Mechanics and Welders apprentices to achieve their journeyman certification, KMC offers a bonus incentive program that is competitive within the industry.

Apprentices must qualify based on specified criteria to be eligible for this bonus incentive, which is paid to each apprentice returning from school to KMC after successful completion and formal proof of certification is provided.


Recognition Awards and Programs

Safe Work Program

Available to all employees, this program is designed to recognize individuals or designated groups for their performance excellence in Health, Safety and Environmental Loss Prevention. The objective is to encourage our employees to prevent loss and to work safely for the benefit of themselves, their families and co-workers, and the company.

Recognition, otherwise known as “Safety Awards” are awarded based on milestone hours of safe work achieved.

Performance Incentive Program

The intention of this program is ultimately the success of the company. It is a broad-based program designed to encourage unity amongst our eligible employees. Much can be gained such as team spirit, employee job satisfaction, personal growth, corporate expansion, areas for improvement indicator, and both individual and corporate profit.

Employee Long Service Recognition Program

This program is designed to publicly recognize employees for their long term commitment and valued service to KMC Mining.

Awards are presented to those employees that have had five years of continuous service, and during that time have displayed efficiency and quality of work, as well as striving for excellence in health, safety and environmental loss prevention. Recognition of performance is conducted at increments of five years.
