Maintenance Planner

General Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Planner will plan and schedule maintenance for all mobile equipment on site to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specification. The incumbent is responsible for promoting the KMC safety culture by adhering to all provincial and federal legislation, KMC policy, and KMC standard practices. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining the highest level of professionalism and upholding the values of KMC Mining.

Specific Accountabilities:
Data Analysis, Control, and Input:

  • Creating, monitoring, and closing work orders related to equipment and facilities maintenance.
  • Ensure systems are accurate and current with the most recent repair and service data.

Planning, Scheduling, and Equipment Management

  • Generate service, preventative, and component replacement plans, both short and long range.
  • Analyze schedules, scopes of work, and equipment requirements to provide recommendations.
  • Coordinate warranty claims and communicate with vendors where necessary.
  • Ensure parts, personnel, tools, permits, and equipment is available for execution as required.
  • Manage and maintain compliance in accordance with all relevant legislation.
  • Provide expert advice in relevant incident investigations to ensure the root causes are identified and that all the required documentation is reported.
  • Manage equipment establishment, transfer, or disposal.
  • Identify project-based opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs
    to increase effectiveness and efficiency by eliminating repetitive, costly, or low-value work.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Implement project management principals to effectively plan and execute major projects.
  • Analyze fleet health to develop repair plans to improve equipment reliability.

Cost Controls and Budgetary Analysis

  • Ensure planned work is completed within budget and with allocated resources by cost effective use of
    parts, materials, and labour.
  • Provide timely feedback to relevant leadership personnel regarding site issues which may affect the
    operating and financial performance of KMC equipment.

Job Qualifications:
Formal Education

  • Journeyman status or degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Work Experience

  • Experience in mobile equipment maintenance planning, preferably 3 years minimum

Technical Skills

  • Strong computer skills and competency with Microsoft Suite of programs
  • The ability to troubleshoot, solve problems, and anticipate future concerns.
  • The ability to be flexible and responsive to a fast-changing environment.
  • Tactful and diplomatic.
