Maintenance Supervisor

General Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Director, Assets and Technical Services, the Supervisor – Asset Planning is responsible for the management of the planning department ensuring compliance with policy and procedure. In addition, ensuring strategic management and reporting of maintenance systems and equipment to reflect current business direction and priorities. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for promoting the KMC safety culture, adhering to all provincial and federal laws, KMC policy, internal controls and practices, while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and upholding the values of KMC Mining.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to maintenance objectives through the establishment and ongoing refinement of a best practice model in planning, engineering, administration and trade training related issues;
  • Provide engineering solutions to reliability issues and assist with the rollout of continuous improvement initiatives;
  • In collaboration with the maintenance manager, manage external repair and warranty, engineering, admin and trade training group at the operation to increase performance and cost effectiveness;
  • Contributing in improving overall safety, environmental, quality, productivity performance by giving best technical support;
  • Manage relationship and ensure good communication with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and achievability of plans and forecast;
  • Ensure statutory and safety related requirement managed by Planning group are always up to date and appropriate documentation is recorded as per company and legislative requirement;
  • Manage and develop the performance of people within the planning group to ensure maximum productivity and coverage of planning tasks;
  • Provide accurate equipment health data collection, analysis and reporting;
  • Ensure undercarriage wear inspections, analysis and reporting is completed in a timely fashion;
  • Ensure accurate SOS data and trending reports are provided to the relevant stakeholders to prevent catastrophic failure;
  • Provide engineering solutions through designs and drawings, technical analysis to current business needs including engineering solutions for Safety Improvement;
  • Provide accurate reliability and pareto reports to monitor fleet health
  • Maintain in-depth relations with members of the maintenance management team and participate in key decisions affecting company assets;
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including KMC Partners and other industry affiliates;
  • Ensure no work is carried out which could be detrimental to the environment or compromise the project, without the appropriate approvals and mitigation plans; and
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.

 Job Qualifications:

Formal Education
  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
Work Experience
  • Minimum 6 years of related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment, equipment performance, and the mining environment.
  • Prior supervisory experience in an industrial environment.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizing, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative and performance orientated.
  • Strong ability to work as part of a support team and adapt to changing stakeholder requirements.
  • Tactful and diplomatic.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
