General Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, or designate the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for scheduling, directing, coordinating, and supervising the duties of the Warehouse Technicians and the department as a whole. The incumbent will oversee the day-to-day warehouse activities and ensure functions such as shipping and receiving and planning & managing the flow of items within and from organizations are dealt with in a timely and accurate manner. Further, the incumbent is responsible for exercising independence in determining priorities in keeping with established policy, standards, work commitments, and providing technical assistance to the team. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for promoting the KMC safety culture, adhering to all provincial and federal laws, KMC policy, internal controls and practices, maintaining the highest level of professionalism and upholding the values of KMC Mining.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Manage the reception, handling, distribution, and storage of designated freight, product, and supplies that come in and out of the warehouse
  • Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight to the appropriate parties
  • Establish and maintain systems for inventory levels to meet demand of goods and products, ensuring demand doesn’t exceed supply
  • Plan warehouse layout and space requirements to prevent loss or damage, and to achieve full storage optimization
  • Maintain appropriate and complete documentation regarding regulated products and/or hazardous materials
  • Supervise a team of warehouse employees, including hiring, delegation, training, and performance management
  • Schedule the Warehouse personnel to maintain adequate full-time coverage
  • Ensure the effective supervision of the Warehouses on site
  • Tour the warehouse consistently to continuously improve the efficiency
  • Ensure the Control and management of stocking and storage to prevent loss and run a more effective operation
  • Communicate to Leadership on variances for reconciliation
  • Inspect warehouse equipment and facilities
  • Notify proper party if equipment is out of code
  • Ensure delivery status of large ticket items is known and communicated to receiving department
  • Monitor Inventory Turnover and communicate levels and needs to procurement and supply chain teams
  • Assist with inventory stock counts monthly or as scheduled
  • Ensure all items are unloaded and accounted for
  • Conduct investigations as to the cause of discrepancies and make recommendations for changes in procedure
  • Ensure all orders, core returns, and purchase orders have proper documentation completed for the movement of goods
  • Maintain the security of all inventory and direct charge material in the control of the warehouse
  • Monitor Direct Charge items to ensure effective returns or addition to inventory
  • Ensure the satisfactory completion of safe work observations, safety investigations and compliance audits as required
  • Responsible for formally notifying the carrier or vendor as applicable concerning any “over, short, or damaged” goods or shipments, and
  • Other duties as assigned from time-to-time

Job Qualifications:

Formal Education

  • High School Diploma or greater
  • Recognized Parts or Materials Technician Certificate or greater is considered an asset

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of related practical experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated supervisor ability

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizing, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative and performance orientated
  • Strong ability to work as part of a support team and adapt to changing stakeholder requirements
  • Tactful and diplomatic
