Administration Officer

General Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Joint Venture Finance & Administration Manager, the Administration Officer provides comprehensive and professional administrative support to the Project Manager and other areas and departments as directed and approved by the Project Manager. In addition, the Administration Officer is responsible for promoting the Thiess KMC safety culture, adhering to all provincial and federal laws, Company policy, internal controls and practices, while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and uphold the values of the Thiess KMC Joint Venture.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Administrative support for the office of the Project Manager.
  • Participate in office safety events, meetings and audits as required.
  • Participate, coordinate, and attend scheduled meetings to record minutes and distributing action logs for completion.
  • Assist with Reporting (Weekly Report, Production Report, Safety Report, and others as assigned).
  • Ensure high standard of time management practices by prioritizing tasks and allowing enough time to complete both routine tasks and urgent tasks as required.
  • Attend to and monitor urgent enquiries and issues ensuring that they are brought to the relevant Manager’s attention and if applicable refer matters onto appropriate staff for response and follow up as needed.

Health & Safety Advisor

General Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Advisor is the primary resource for ensuring the company's safety standards and loss management programs are administered in a manner that supports an incident, accident and injury free workplace. Further, provide guidance and recommendations to employees and leaders on respective sites. Specific Accountabilities:

  • Interpret and advise all employees on compliance to OHS regulations and company standards. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of OHS & WCB regulations
  • Review safe work procedures for compliance and recommend changes as required. 
  • Provide a high level of visibility in the field by performing tours daily.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of EH&S programs and procedures.
  • Provide advice on the safety procedures and practices contained in the company safety management system.
  • Review programs and procedures to ensure effectiveness.

Health & Safety Manager

General Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the management of the Health & Safety department and the development and implementation of Thiess KMC Health & Safety program. This includes policy development, administration, accident and injury claims management, project-related safety and health consulting and assistance, safety plan development and support. Specific Accountabilities: 

  • Directs the communication & implementation of H&S programs, policies, and strategies to support Thiess KMC operations.  
  • Develop and measure Safety Performance Improvement Goals.
  • Oversee a process that provides defined auditing in the areas of Injury Prevention, Regulatory Compliance, Permit Adherence, and Security Practices along with appropriate reporting and follow-up.
  • Ensure managers and supervisors are current on the health and safety program, accident prevention; and investigation training.

Finance & Administrative Manager

General Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Project General Manager, the JV (Joint Venture) Finance & Administrative Manager is responsible for enabling transparency to the JV reporting and ensuring governance requirements are followed. To manage all statutory, regulatory and financial & management accounting of Canadian Finance affairs and advise and assist the projects regarding commercial and financial accountability and control. Specific Accountabilities: 

  • Building and leading the Financial Accounting function

Logistics & Onboarding Coordinator

General Accountabilities: 

Reporting to the Human Resources Advisor, the Logistics & Onboarding Coordinator will conduct and coordinate the orientation, onboarding process, and flight and camp activities to ensure effective and relevant adherence to company operations for new and re-hired individuals. In addition, ensure training records are completed, tracked, and stored to remain in compliance with requirements. Specific Accountabilities: 

  • Conduct orientations for new and re-hired individuals, ensuring all records are accurately completed, tracked, and filed in the training database.

  • Training of client mandatory courses including extraction, mine hazards, mine awareness, and mine driving.
  • Work with the recruitment coordinator for an understanding of weekly orientation demands.

Maintenance Planner

General Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, carry out on-site maintenance planning activities for heavy mining equipment and logistics related to the efficient and accurate completion of work orders, repairs and movement of inventory and parts. To assist senior maintenance personnel enabling improved performance of the fleet by the maintenance group. In addition, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for adhering to all provincial and federal law, Company policy, internal controls and practices, while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and uphold the values of the Thiess KMC Joint Venture.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Ensure behavior is compliant with the site’s Safety Management Plan;
  • Work with Maintenance planning leadership, coordinators and planners to develop short, mid and long-term plans for the maintenance planning of off road heavy equipment.
  • Work with a team of journeymen trades people to ensure barriers are understood.
  • Ensure the site’s related records are filed in accordance with company policy, statutory and contractual requirements;
  • Efficient ordering of parts through appropriate channels and approvals to execute sound planning activities;
  • Managing direct charge and backlog parts for department and provide reports as required;
  • Ensure the JDE maintenance system is utilized fully to ensure transparency across the business and maintained accordingly;
  • Liaise with Maintenance Planner and Maintenance Superintendents & Supervisors and communicate with subcontractors, suppliers and internal personnel to ensure parts and resources are available when required for maintenance work;
  • Provide feedback to relevant leadership personnel regarding site issues which may affect the operating and financial performance of Thiess plant and equipment;
  • Provide Maintenance Manager with monthly reports and assist with changes where necessary;
  • Use the established systems to track maintenance activities against target and notify leadership;
  • Contribute to the annual equipment budget where required;
  • Manage core credits for exchange parts. Ensure we receive the credits we are entitled to;
  • Manage Warranty claim costs. Ensure we receive the claim credits we are entitled to;
  • Manage equipment transfer or disposal process. Complete forms and send to areas where these are required, ensuring required approvals.
  • Raise equipment hire orders for major items of equipment and hired vehicles and process invoices in JDE;
  • Review maintenance open purchase orders, clear incorrect POS from the system and prepare report for site admin at end of each month;

Formal Education: *

  • Post-secondary education in a technical engineering concentration
  • Journeyman status with relevant planning experience

Work Experience:

  • Preference for two or more years of related experience in a maintenance planning role in a mine setting;

  • Preference for two years in a maintenance supervisory role.

Mine Engineer

Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Mine Engineer will prepare equipment production models to determine optimal fleet requirements and cost models including labour and materials in preparation of bid packages for projects. Mining Manager

Specific Accountabilities: 

  • Ensure the Health & Safety Management Plan is communicated, implemented, and followed across site along with safety performance measures of direct reports and self are achieved.
  • Ensure all incidents (near miss) are reported and investigated in accordance with the Incident Notification, Recording, Investigation, and Reporting procedures and close / “sign off” on loss control reporting.
  • Lead, provide guidance and direction to direct reports on meeting mine plan, and in consultation with the leadership team.
    Follow up on the execution of the mine plan in operations performance and people management.
    Provides budgets and forecasts as required.
  • Identify training requirements for the department and adopt companywide training programs and processes.
  • Responsible for the execution of the pit/mine plans, production targets and objectives and fostering teamwork and collaboration of crews.

Project Manager

Reporting to the Project General Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing the planning, implementation, and tracking of the project. The work will be conducted in accordance with contracts, blueprints, safety, cost, productivity, schedule, and Quality. The Project Manager is also responsible in assisting the estimating and contract bidding teams in the preparation of proposals for work.   •  Ensure safety and production targets are consistently met while adhering to project and company requirements.

  • Identify improvement initiatives prior to start-up of the project, during the project and following the completion of the project. Form a task force focusing on the improvement initiatives with a focused plan to implement.
  • Review and refine processes to continuously improve safety, production, cost control, and maintenance
  • Ensure the use of continuous improvement tools along with assisting in project monitoring. 
  • Identify deficiencies within a function and form a team to address the issue by collecting relevant information from multiple stakeholders.

Safety & Training Administrator

General Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Safety and Training administrator will provide administrative support to the Health and Safety and training teams for all Thiess KMC JV sites. In addition, respond to the on-site needs of safety related matters by actively participating in coordinating employees and the hands-on administration of safety and training related functions, including processing of employee documentation in support of adherence to the safety management plan.

  • Assist in reporting company safety statistics and loss management performance to the site owners as required;
  • Capture, monitor and trend activities such as safe work observations, Field Level Risk Assessments, Near Miss Cards, and inspections;
  • Assist in the preparation of safety audits in accordance with company requirements and when required;
  • Promote safe work practices and injury prevention activities;
  • Following specific incidents, assist safety advisors by providing transportation for employees required to submit to Alcohol and Drug Testing;
  • When required, participate in safety investigations and compile notes to assist the Safety Advisors and Management;
  • Assist Safety Advisors with employee requirements as it relates to WCB Claims and activities associated with the claim.
  • Assist in other safety related responsibilities when required.

Formal Education: *

  • Diploma in health and safety, business administration, HSA or NCSO certification would be considered strong assets.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience. 

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent communication, prioritizing and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong IT and information system skills.
  • Collaborative and performance orientated.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
  • Tactful and diplomatic
  • Conflict resolution skills
