General Accountabilities:

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance for all mobile equipment on site. This role involves analyzing equipment data, creating and managing work orders, and scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance tasks in alignment with OEM specifications and KMC reliability programs. This role promotes KMC’s safety culture by adhering to provincial and federal regulations, KMC policies, and standard practices, while upholding KMC Mining’s values.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Create, monitor, and close work orders for equipment and facilities maintenance.
  • Ensure systems are accurate and up to date with the latest repair and service data.
  • Develop short and long-term service, preventative maintenance, and component replacement plans.
  • Analyze schedules, scopes of work, and equipment needs to provide recommendations.
  • Coordinate warranty claims and liaise with vendors as necessary.
  • Ensure availability of parts, personnel, tools, permits, and equipment for execution.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Provide expertise during incident investigations to identify root causes and ensure proper documentation.
  • Manage equipment establishment, transfer, or disposal.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Apply project management principles to effectively plan and execute major projects.
  • Analyze fleet health to develop repair plans.
  • Ensure work is completed within budget using resources efficiently.
  • Provide timely feedback to leadership on site issues affecting KMC equipment performance.

Job Qualifications:

Formal Education:

  • Journeyman status or degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering – Preferred
  • All other combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Work Experience:

  • Heavy equipment maintenance
  • Mobile equipment maintenance planning & scheduling.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to a fast-paced environment.
  • Tactful and diplomatic communication skills.

Rotation/Accommodation:

  • 7×7 Rotation (14×14 may be considered)
