Shift Trainer
General Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Sr. Trainer, the role of the Shift Trainer is to ensure training of all operation’s personnel on shift is adequately provided in order to maintain a safe and reliable operation. In addition, assess the operators in accordance with the Company’s standards and practices. The Shift Trainer will work closely with Supervision and assist where required. In addition, the Shift Trainer is responsible for promoting the KMC safety culture, adhering to all provincial and federal laws, Company policy, internal controls and practices, while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and uphold the values of KMC Mining.
Specific Accountabilities:
- Provide fair, accurate and thorough assessments of employee skills and abilities;
- Evaluate new hires for competency and determine what training is necessary;
- Ensure assessments are completed clearly and resulting paper work is submitted to the right departments;
- Liaise with the Director of Health, Safety and Training and inform on any constraints or challenges in order to reach an appropriate solution;
- Assist with the development and updates of the assessment tools which emphasize employee compliance to KMC Mining’s policies and procedures;
- Provide employees with comprehensive training in equipment operation; emphasizing KMC’s safe work procedures. In addition, participate in all tool box talks;
- Continuously conduct FLRA audits along with completing Job Safety Observations;
- Ensure employee training records are accurate, thorough and up to date;
- Remain informed in regards to changes in customer requirements.
- Build and maintain solid relationships with employees and client(s) and ensure mentorship of KMC Operators personnel;
- Ensure all incidents are reported, respecting timelines and KMC’s reporting model;
- Assist with safety investigations where required;
- Fully participate in the Health & Safety activities on the project, including inspections, job hazard analysis, safety meetings, and investigation processes;
- Other duties as assigned from time-to-time.
Job Qualifications
Formal Education*
- Grade 12 education or equivalency*
Work Experience
- 3 years’ experience in a related role
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizing, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Collaborative and performance orientated
- The ability to troubleshoot and anticipate future concerns
- The skills to safely and efficiently operate a variety of mining equipment such as Haul Trucks, Dozers, Graders, Shovels, and Excavators and able to demonstrate competency
- Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to changing stakeholder requirements
- Tactful and diplomatic
- Conflict resolution skills
FIFO/BIBO and camp provided.
