CNRL Reclamation Project

In November 2015, KMC Mining along with key First Nations subcontractor, Fort McKay Enterprises Ltd., was awarded the Reclamation Material Salvage and Placement Program for winter 2015/16.

The original project scope consisted of 223,000 Bank Cubic Meters (BCM) of topsoil removal and 236,000 BCM of peat/mineral soil removal. As the contract progressed, and KMC maintained schedule, the customer added additional volumes of 500,000 BCM of material for a total project volume of 959,000 BCM.

The project was completed on time and within budget. Other key highlights of the project include:

  • Zero First Aid, Medical Aid and Loss Time incidents over 20,000 total manhours.
  • 25% Aboriginal Involvement.
